Operation Food USA is led by and majority owned by Jennifer Doherty. Jennifer is a strong New York raised woman, graduate of Pace university with coursework in business and public sector service. She is a wife and adoring mother of 3 children, a 7-year-old, 6-year-old, and 2-year-old. Jennifer is 4th generation food service, retail food stuffs and wholesale produce procurement and distribution as well as bulk sourcing and logistics. The origins of her Great Grandmother and Grandmother is in Brooklyn, owning and operating Allied Foods and her Father Louis, founding Manhattan Fruit Exchange in 1981, the single largest produce wholesaler in Manhattan, NY. Jennifer now operates Manhattan Fruit which has been in Chelsea Market, NYC since 1995, owning and operating the business since 2016. Her expertise lies in: strategic project planning, quality management systems, program creation and implementation; inventory control & profit and loss analysis.

Evan is currently a partner at iDEKOgov, a strategic consulting group specializing in government and community relations. iDEKOgov works with businesses to navigate and simplify the complexities of municipal governments Previously, Evan served under two New York City (NYC) mayors starting out in the Mayor’s Community Assistance Unit as the Queens Unit Deputy Director then Special Assistant to the Commissioner and Director of Special Projects, later ascending up the ranks to serve as NYC Department Of Transportation’s (DOT) Deputy Manhattan Borough Commissioner and Acting Manhattan Borough Commissioner under then Mayor Rudolph Giuliani. In 2007, Evan was appointed by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg to serve as the first ever Executive Director of the Mayor’s Office of Citywide Event Coordination and Management. Evan has served on multiple boards including NYC Fleet Week and the Advisory Board for the 9/11 World Police and Fire Games. Evan currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Federal Enforcement Homeland Security Foundation and serves as the Vice Chairman of the Tri-state Law Enforcement Foundation. Notably, Evan is the recipient of the Unites States Secret Service Honor Award. Evan continues to serve as a visiting lecturer at NYU’s School of Professional Studies.

Russell traded over 30 million contracts during his over 20 years on the exchange floor and a notional commodity value of fifteen trillion dollars (USD). Commodity trading is essentially the business of transforming commodities in space (logistics), in time (storage), and in form (processing). Their basic function is to perform physical “arbitrages” which enhance value through these various transformations. Risk management is an integral part of the operations of commodity trading. Risk management is a precondition for any success. This breeds an environment that has controlled policies, procedures, and oversight, optimal qualifications for procurement. Responsibilities will include, procured food, supplies and USDA commodities from suppliers through new contracts, competitive bids, or existing contracts. Forecast all food needs for monthly menus; establish ordering and shipping timelines; coordinate shipping and delivery. Prepare and evaluate specifications, solicitations, requests for proposals, and quotes for food, equipment, and supplies, research vendors, optimize pricing, products, and services. Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production, and distribution capabilities as well as the reputation and history. Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contracted obligations; assist with clarifying contract requirements and resolving any conflicts.

Operation Food is proud to introduce our equity-member partner, TKP Trucking who will manage all logistics, trucking in of commodities and distribution to food recipients, drop zones or homes. TKP was started in 1963 and has been a 100% African American family owned business since, now operated by the 3rd generation. With considerable experience and multi-generational ties to the produce industry, TPK’s focus in the beginning was primarily on the over-the-road transport of produce. Now, our focus has broadened to include brokering a range of freight shipping cargo, including produce, dry goods, refrigerated goods, frozen foods, food packaging, and much more. We have gained a strong reputation in our industry for providing timely, cost-effective transport solutions, specializing in all foodstuff trucking.

Michael and Patrick McNamee, two brothers hailing from Dublin, Ireland are the brainchildren behind Tanner Smith’s, Vida Verde and Dutch Fred’s, The Mean Fiddler, The Three Monkeys and most recently, Haswell Greens. The McNamee brothers are key contributors to the noted injection of variety, quality and vibrancy into midtown Manhattan’s bar and restaurant scene. The brother’s grassroots approach to Irish hospitality has remained constant throughout their array of concepts and ventures and has transcended the changing fads of the food and beverage industry over the years. The brother’s core values stem from their family’s long history in the hospitality business around the world, promising every customer that walks through their doors, to feel like one of their own.
